II Meeting between SAF Producers and Offtakers in the Canary Islands

TTCC took part in the II Meeting between Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) producers and off-takers in the Canary Islands, held on April 8 at the Assembly Hall of the Servicios Múltiples I Building.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Ecological Transition, Climate Change and Energy of the Government of the Canary Islands, together with the Directorate General for Tourism Planning, Training and Promotion of the Government of the Canary Islands.

During the session, key aspects for the development of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) were addressed, including the resources required for its production, the maturity level of available technologies, the necessary investments (CAPEX), financing options and existing support schemes, as well as the economic viability of the sector. Current challenges related to administrative permitting and regulatory procedures were also discussed.

The objective of the meeting is clear: to valorize waste generated in the Canary Islands for the local production of SAF, thereby contributing to the transformation of tourism into a more sustainable industry.

In this context, BP, Repsol, and TTCC are promoting the use of SAF as a key solution for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and advancing the decarbonization of the aviation sector.
